@ Gavin

I use micro-Timeboxing all the time, although I never called it the Pomodoro technique. On my previous team, we did very timebox intensive work, so I got used to fixing time, and flexing scope.

What I usually do is, I start with whatever I think is a "right-sized" timebox for the current task. If I find myself getting distracted along the way, then I move down to 10 minute timeboxes and then work my way back up.

From a principle standpoint, using short timeboxes to help focus, is a good thing, so the Pomodoro technique sounds robust from a principle standpoint.

Hi,

Thank you, JD! It must have taken you a long time to come up with this list. It's really helpful for us readers.

Have you tried Pomodoro Technique?
http://www.amazon.com/Pomodoro-Technique-Illustrated-Really-Minutes/dp/1934356506

Seems to match some of your points.

Sinceraly,
Gavin

# Establish a rhythm of results. Don’t let the tail wag the dog.
~I love this line! I need rhythm, and I work best on the days that I choose to start well!
# Deliver incremental value. Focusing on delivering value.
I agree with this very much! It is energizing and rewarding to blog on a topic that you believe in, rather then random content to achieve a goal!

As a side note: I love your blogs, J.D. because you 'break it down'.
I benefit from your clarity and the step by step takeaways, otherwise I get overwhelmed! Great job!! You really do add value to others! Thanks for making a difference in my life! ~Jen
