How To Achieve Any Goal and Guarantee Your Ultimate Success

by JD

“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal.” — Henry Ford

What’s holding you back from achieving your greatest goals?

That’s actually a great place to start.

You can use what’s holding you back as a way to plot out your path and find your way forward.

Your obstacles can serve as your mini-goals to help you reach your bigger goals.

In the book, Goals!: How to Get Everything You Want — Faster Than You Ever Thought Possible, Brian Tracy shares how we can use our obstacles to achieve any of the goals we set and achieve our ultimate success.

1. Define the Obstacle as a Goal

What’s holding you back is what helps you get ahead.

Tracy writes:

“Once you have determined the major obstacle that is holding you back, rewrite that obstacle as a positive goal.  For example, you could now say, ‘My goal is to continually upgrade my skills and abilities so that I am in the top 10 percent of money earners in my field.’”

2. Make a List of All the Steps

Break the challenge before you down into a simple list of actions.  That’s your map for the road ahead.

Tracy writes:

“You then make a list of all the steps that you could take to upgrade your knowledge and skills, improve your time management, increase your efficiency and effectiveness, and make more sales for your company.

Then set deadlines and measures for each step.  Select one key task and take action on it immediately.”

3. Hold Your Own Feet to the Fire

It’s your goal.  It’s your challenge.  It’s your map.  It’s your actions.  Now it’s up to you.

Tracy writes:

“Form then on, hold your own feet to the fire.  Become your own taskmaster.  Discipline and drive yourself to do what you must do to achieve the goals you have set.”

This Puts You Back in Control

This is how you take your power back and empower yourself with skill.  And that’s how you guarantee your success.

Tracy writes:

“This exercise of identifying what is holding you back and then setting a clear, written goal to remove that obstacle puts you back in control of your own life.

By following through on your resolution, you virtually guarantee your ultimate success and the achievement of almost any goal you set.”

What’s holding you back?

Here’s to unstoppable you.
